The Ping Glide 4.0 wedge, with its precision-milled face and grooves, has a new face texture that increases spin and consistency. It also features a larger, more active elastomer insert, which offers a softer feel, and four different sole options maximize versatility on hits.
Technologies:
- Compact Shape: The Glide 4.0 has a compact, rounded design that benefits from advances in the transition from neck to topline. In addition, its compact and refined profile adds elegance and confidence.
- 8620 carbon steel body with CTP elastomer insert: The multi-material construction combines 8620 carbon steel with an active elastomer insert for a soft, responsive feel. The extra volume of the insert offers 36% more contact on the face.
- Milled Grooves and Emery Finish: Combined with the milling of the grooves and face, the new Emery finish on the face adds more texture to the hitting surface, creating more friction and more interaction between the club and ball for higher spin and lower flight.
- Full Shot: Wedges with lower degrees (46°-52°) feature a 20° milled sidewall to maximize groove volume.
- Around the Green: The higher degree options (54° - 60°) are milled with a 28° milled sidewall and tighter radius, imparting more spin and accuracy on short shots from the sand.
The Ping Glide 4.0 wedge has four different sole options (S, W, T, E) designed to match your angle of attack and typical course conditions to enhance your performance and versatility on both half and full shots:
- E sole: It has an accentuated toe, and a design to enhance the line of attack. In addition, its concave sole and tapered collar provide better performance in the bunker.
- S Sole: Has a softened leading edge/heel, standard sole and rounded topline. Fits most golfers.
- W Sole: Has a traditional wide sole design, is more forgiving through the grass. Its rounded topline is optimized for full and bunker shots.
- T Sole: High angle of attack, crescent-shaped sole with increased midsole width.
Guide to choose your Wedge
If you have a sharp or flat attack with the ball, live in a place with a lot of rain or the fairways where you play are very hard, the wegde is the perfect choice for your game.
Most sets of irons usually include a wedge, usually the pitch but many players want to expand their range of wedges and choose their own club. Para so you should consider the following features when making your decision
- WEDGE LOFT
- Pitch (PW): generally included in iron sets, it is the next highest loft club after the 9-iron. It usually has a loft between 46º and 50º and is used in long shots at green.
- Approach (AW): with a lighter loft between 50º-55º, they cover the existing needs between a pitch and the wedge sand.
- Arena (WA): usually used in bunker play due to their high rebound, they reach 100 yards and have a loft between 54º and 58º.
- Lob Wedge (LW): they throw the ball very high in short distances and are usually between 56º and 60º lofts although they can exceed 64º.
- REBOUND ANGLE
Here we refer to the curved part on the sole of the wedge that will allow the head to bounce out of the sand without getting caught.
The highest bounce we can find is 18º and we can conclude that the higher the bounce angle, the higher the shots.- Low bounce: perfect for shots from tight positions and thick grass conditions. The lower the bounce of the wegde, the easier it will be to shoot high and the softer the landing. They are perfect for low lofts with the pitch and are used for longer approach shots.
- Standard bounce: ideal for almost all conditions and players as they are very versatile wedges with a slightly higher angle of attack than most.
- High bounce: designed for play off the turf and sand, with a wider flange and a higher bounce angle that prevents cavation.
Para golfers with high angles are perfect for this type of wedges.
- FINISHES
In general, the wegde finish is purely aesthetic rather than functional although in the case of finishes such as matte, they do not help to reduce light reflection on the club and those with natural finishes are designed primarily to prevent corrosion.
